  • Q: 2. Why I failed to use GPU to speed up the password recovery process?
  • A: To accelerate the RAR password recovery by using GPU, NVIDIA CUDA-enabled device and CUDA 4.0 driver should be installed on the computer. Otherwise, only CPU is used for password recovery. For more details, please visit: http://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-toolkit-40

  • A: It is only available for "Brute-force with Mask Attack" . It can instruct the program what characters have been used in the password and restrict the search area.
  • For Example, if you know that your forgotten Word password contains 5-9 characters which is composed of letters and numbers, and starts with "M", ends with "n", then you can do it like this to shorten your recovery time.

    • (1). Check the a-z box, 0-9 box, A-Z box
    • (2). Set Prefix ="M", Suffix="n";
    • (3). Set Min Length = "3" and Max Length ="7".

  • Q: 4. What's the meaning of "Prefix" and "Suffix" in Brute-force with Mask Attack?
  • A: Prefix is the first character of the password. Enter it into the checkbox if you remember. Suffix is the last character of the password. Enter it into the checkbox if you remember. Both of them are used in Brute-force with Mask Attack.

  • Q: 5. What is "Dictionary Attack" and how to create your own dictionary?
  • A: Dictionary Attack is an effective attack for you to recover lost password with a default dictionary provided in the program. The program will try every password in the dictionary. • Q: 6. What does "Smart Mutation" mean and how to set it?
  • A: Smart Mutations allows you to try combinations among passwords in the dictionary.

  • Q: 7. What is "Mutation Count"?
  • A: Mutation Count allows you to choose a number, that number means you can try combinations among the passwords in dictionary. For example, you chose 2, and then the program will try combinations between every two passwords in the dictionary after trying every password.

  • Q: 8. I added my own dictionary to the program, but why does the program still use the default dictionary when I run the program?
  • A: It will be OK if you empty the path of the default dictionary.

  • Q:9. What is the "Program Priority"?
  • A: Windows is a multi-tasking operating system that allows users to run multiple programs simultaneously. By default, all processes are at normal priority. If you want to assign a higher priority to more important task, Windows will ensure that the critical task will not be interrupted by less important background tasks, and the speed of critical task will be high.

  • Q: 10. What if I stop recovering the password?
